Quartzite
Through the passage of time, the shifting and grinding of tectonic plates produced heat and pressure to fuse the properties of quartz-rich sandstone into the unique grey-white mineral known as quartzite. Often found in mountainous and dry regions, Quartzite is an extremely hard and resistant mineral with medium grain and almost no porous properties. The tough nature of quartzite has long been treasured in the realm of construction, and is highly valued as construction aggregate. Quartzite’s unique properties have given it a variety of functions over the ages, from making glass to holding things together as railway ballast.
Inside and outside the home, quartzite’s unique blend of simple beauty and tenacity make it an ideal material for many different projects. Quartzite’s non-porous qualities keep its surface from absorbing spilled liquids or getting long-term stains. Its distinct toughness holds up to harsh weather of all kinds and its hardness provides protection from years of constant wear and tear.
